  • Hello

    I have a 97 Vectra 2.0 Auto

2.900 is to high to idle. It should be 1.000, at 2,900 mine is looking to change up a gear.

Mine does that when I need to put in Water or Oil so check both and lower the idle. You must be jumping all over the place when you select drive or reverse, now you know why you feel wrong as it unable to drop the revs low enough to autoselect neutral when you are stopped at lines etc, it is like having one foot on the accelerator and the other on the brake.

If you can't find controls give me a shout

  • dont know how they have turned the revs up because its not adjustable, unless they have bodged the throttle cable to do this.

the problem could be that the idle control valve needs cleaning, is it cutting out while driving along at a particular speed or when approaching junctions?
