grade 11 math word problem?

If Bonnie is away from Clyde for n consecutive days, then the amount of heartache claude feels is given by h(n)=(2n+1)^3.

a)if Bonnie is absent, by how much does Clyde's pain increase between day n and day n+1?

b)how much more pain will he feel on day 6 than on day 5?

I now the answer to a is24n^2+48n+26

I know the answer to b is 866

Update:

why did you factor out the 2?

Comments

  • a =>

    [2(n+1)+1]^3 - [2n+1]^3

    as pain is function of number of days

    replace n with 5 in result obtained for a
