How do i ask for a raise?
I have been in my position for a year now and I have had a raise but another girl started after me and she started out at over two dollars an hour more than me. She has not been here as long as me and she has less education than me. I currently make less than everyone in my department by over two dollars an hour and I think I deserve a raise. How do i ask for one.

List specific contributions you have made to the company. Writing them out would be good. Ask to speak with your boss. Tell him or her why you're valuable.
Do not, repeat, do not mention how much anybody else makes. What you make is nobody's business, and what anyone else makes is not your business. Your boss won't be impressed if you mention what someone else's salary is.
Tell them what you've done that's valuable. Don't tell them how much harder you'll work if you make more money. They'll wonder why you haven't been working as hard as you can.
Mr Reliable has a great answer! I'd also start applying for other jobs immediately, and taking interviews if they're offered. If you get a better offer from another job, you're current job may match it. Who knows, you may get a job offer from a job that you'd like better than this one. Wages/salaries are private information for just this reason, they breed discontent throughout a workplace.
When you ask to speak to your manager, let him/her know you'd like a review. Prepare a list of what you've contributed to the company and what salary you'd like to make before the meeting. During the meeting, ask what you've done well, what you could improve and what you need to do to earn a raise. This way, if they can't give you a raise right now, you have a clear understanding of what you need to do to impress your boss.
"Say, boss, can I have a raise?" All he/she can say is yes or no.
