Adobe Photoshop photo saving problem?

I make a lot of layers while editin a pic & i give each layer a different blend mode. Wen i flatten all the layers the picture gets distorted & all the editing used shows up. For instance, i used sharpen edges & all the edges brighten with a lot of specks as if i didnt put any blend mode. Can anyone solve this problem?

Update:

Applying Image also shows the same problem. This merging of layers jst brings bak all those old sharpened edges as specks....

  • I can't tell whether you mean when you save the image when you say "flatten all the layers" or merge all layers. If you mean when you merge, that is not an error. What you have to do is create a new layer on top of all (blank). Then, select from the top "Image", then "apply image". The image will then be applied or merged as it is to the blank layer. That is the way you can apply all the layers. It is also very effective for double applying blending modes. Then, save as an image file (.png seems to be the best quality).

By the way, the other way you can do this is simply by saving as a jpeg or png, then re-importing but sometimes saving multiple times causes loss of quality like re-rendering, so applying image is the best way to go.

  • if by flatted you mean merging then why do you flatten all the layers? just export it in jpg format
