Nearly all avocado trees only grow fruit after they have received a graft from a producing tree. Consult an orchardist. If you live in Pinole, try just telephoning an avocado producer.
Im assuming you do not live someplace where avocados grow, as they are quite plentiful and inexpensive in places like california or florida. You are no doupt out of luck, but if you take 4 toothpicks and an avodado pit and a pint glass, you can start your own little avocado plant on any sunny window sill. Simply situate the pit so that the point is directed downward, insert the picks about 1/4 inch deep around the equator of the pit evenly(not to easy). So you end up with an avocado pit with four toothpicks at 12, 3, 6, and 9 o'clock when viewed from above. Set your avocado contraption pit point down upon your pint glass so the picks rest on the rim of the glass suspending the pit half in half out of the glass. Fill with water set on window sill top off dayly and in a week or two it will grow a nice tap root. Carefully transplant into larger container.
Was your tree grown from a seed, or a tree that you purchased commercially? An avocado tree will usually fruit at about 10 years of maturity. After that it will produce about 100 fruits per year. Good luck, my tree only survived 4 years and then came down with root rot. I live in Washington, not so much sun as in California!!!
If it was grown from seed it will be another 3 to 6 years before it fruits.
The reason storebought trees are grafted is that starting off on a strong root system stolen from a tree with less desirable fruit gets a cutting fruiting in just a few years instead of 7 - 10.
For other avo tree owners who wonder why their tree skips a year every other year, it's normal. Several varieties do it.
i would go ask at the nearest nurseryes they would know because they care for plants and that is their jabs to know so feel free to ask quiestions i think it just needs a really good pruning but you have to know what your doing ok good luck

You probably have a male tree - only produces pollen - you need both male and female trees for fruit.
