I get how draganov, Steiner, and kravchenko programmed you to kill JFK. But why does mason have to translate the numbers? What do the numbers have to do with assassinating JFK? Do the numbers have to do with the nova 6 gas? I don't understand.

The numbers brain washed people all over the world that didn't know that they were sleeper cells. Those people that were sleeper cells were going to release the nova 6 over the world. The numbers are a brainwash sequence that they used on mason and the sleeper cells to brainwash them and they used Mason to try and kill JFK while the Nova 6 was being released.
the numbers are the launch code that mason has to plug into a launch board which will kill the president and US citizens.
