The first atomic bomb released an energy
equivalent to 16 kilotons of TNT.
If 1 ton of TNT releases about
4 × 109 J/ton, how much uranium was fis-
sioned in this bomb? Assume 208 MeV of
energy are released per fission event. 1 eV =
1.6 × 10−19 J.
Answer in units of kg.

Hello T, Energy given out in joule is 16000 x 4 x 10^9 J
So the energy in eV will be 16000 x 4 x 10^9 / 1.6 × 10−19 = 4 x10^32 eV
For 208x 10^6 eV energy we need one fissionble atom
So for 4 x 10^32 eV the number of fissions will be (4000/208) x 10^23
6.023 x 10^23 atoms need 235 g of uranium
So (4000/208) x 10^23 atoms need 235 x 4000 / (6.023*208) = 750.3 g nearly
