do Evian water bottles contain BPA?

do Evian water bottles contain BPA? I know it says that if the recycling symbol says PETE #1 that they are safe to use just once and that BPA s released in hot temperatures. Evian is stored in stores for a long time in bulk and they travel a long way to get to the stores so I'm sure they are already exposed to heat before we even buy them.

And anyway I don't see how the recycling symbol has anything to do with the bottle containing BPA

I drink Evian everyday and I am worried about this BPA thing, I need to know if the bottles contain it or not. If they do I want to stop drinking from it.

  • Milky,

I think you are right to be concerned about BPA. BPA is an amazingly handy chemical that makes _clear_ plastics shatterproof. It has a lot of other uses too, including linings in soda cans and cans of vegetables and other foods, and thermal print papers like store receipts. Oh, and lest we forget, white dental fillings. What fun!

Some say that the amounts we are exposed to are so small, they can't possibly be dangerous, and that's true, in the sense that we won't OD and need an ambulance.

    However...

BPA mimics a hormone you may have heard of, Estrogen. Part of what makes a hormone a hormone is that it can take effect in very small amounts. Amounts well under the levels currently designated as safe by the FDA.

To avoid exposure, I recommend that you switch to a distilled water sold in a soft, cloudy plastic (like a milk bottle). The cloudy plastic does not contain BPA. Give yourself a little time to get used to the taste. Soon you'll think it's the best!

  • Evian Bottle Bpa Free

  • well generally the harder the plastic the better, so if it's out a soft, malleable bottle then yes, you are in taking harmful amounts of BPA.

  • sophisticated step. browse over google and yahoo. it might help!
