Hp increase from these car upgrades?

Getting a 1995 mustang 5.0 gt and I'm gonna upgrade it a lot to increase hp. Here's what I'm doing putting in new cylinder head a high performance one, high performance pistons, high performance cams and timing, performance chip, high performance exhaust, twin turbo, and better intake. How much hp can I get to I think stock it's 220, I need to know cause the crank can only handle like 500 hp I think and I'll put new one if they can't handle the power and should I keep the connecting rods I heard they can handle like 1000 hp. Thanks best answer gets 5 star

  • Deciding what is best can only be a choice more correctly made AFTER first stating your goals. Simply saying that you want more horsepower leaves so much appropriate information on the table, I don't even know where to begin. Are you planning to drive the car daily on the street and in traffic, or are you planning to strictly race the car..? There is a big difference in the 'sauce'.

To understand horsepower, understand this: Horsepower does not AT ALL dictate how quickly an engine will accelerate. The FIRST rule to making horsepower (well, at least unlocking the door for it) is you have to turn RPM. RPM is the gateway to horsepower. Second rule: even though RPM is the gateway to horsepower, turning more RPM is not an automatic guarantee that horsepower will follow suit.

Just because something makes an attractive horsepower number does not mean it will be fast. I have lost count how many times I have seen people change something in an engine while messing around on a Dyno, actually run slower at the track in spite of their change netting 30 more horsepower, according to the Dyno.

  • It will be cheaper to buy a crate engine with the power you want than to rebuild yours. You probably should change your torque converter and add a shift kit to the trans.

  • "putting in new cylinder head a high performance one"

One head you say. So your plan is to just leave the other one stock?

    ", high performance cams "

So one cylinder head and multiple cams... Where do you plan to put the other one(s)?

You don't have an effin' clue about what you're talking about....

  • LOL. The correct answer is, "ZERO horsepower increase" because AIN"T GONNA HAPPEN, Jimbo. You are dreaming.

  • they can handle 1000HP if you have enough money to afford to replace ABSOLUTELY EVERYTHING on the car....you're not going to do much with the 20 year old engine as it sits

  • why buy it in first place? the engine needs to be blueprinted ..and built by an engineer ...even then your gearbox and rear axle wont handle it ...as well as your brakes ..its a 20 year old banger
