Do Lymph Nodes Heal Overtime?

When I was younger (8 or so) I often felt two painful "balls" inside my neck on both sides, but I never told my parents; it just went away after a while and I never noticed it.

Now today, at 17, I feel 1 ball on the right side of my neck hurting and I've now identified what it is. I've had a cold for a few weeks now and suddenly this pops up. Will this heal along with my cold overtime or is it serious?

  • ...Lymph nodes always get swollen when you are sick. They are in you all the tie, but get big when you are fighting infections. They appear mostly on your neck, on your inner thighs, in your ear lobes, and cheeks.

Don't be scared, usually this means you are hurt somewhere.

A little bit ago I had a bump in my cheek and I was really confused, I had my dentist look at it and he told me it was a lymph node. I was scared and I didn't fully trust him (which was stupid) but then I realized my wire in my braces was poking at my gums and causing the lymph nodes to pop up! Makes total sense.

So that's that, hope this helped!! :) Let me know if you have anymore questions.

  • Lymph nodes common swell when our bodies are fighting some sort of illness or infection.

They are part of our immune system and that just shows they are working hard.

If they are abnormally swollen or rock hard then they need to be checked by a Dr to confirm it is just normal reactive lymph nodes and nothing more sinister.
