Why do food prices continue to rise under Obama?
Update:
All you liberals who make excuses for Obama better get ready to enjoy more sky rocketing food prices while you job wages stay the same. Obama down graded us, and we are going bankrupt.

The price of EVERYTHING has doubled under Obama!
Bush debt= 1.2 billion per day
Obama debt= 4.2 billion per day
It's not just in the United States, grocery, utility and gas prices have gone up everywhere in the world. Even though the US dollar is only worth 90 cents here in Australia, the same items of food in the USA I buy at the grocery store here in Australia is $20 more than they are in the United States and a $10 difference in England. New Zealander's pay over $7 more for food than we all do in Australia. That's nearly an extra $30 more if you work it out, so it's still a lot cheaper for food in the USA.
All utility bills propane gas, water and electricity have gone up 17% everywhere as well, you just got to watch your penny's a look for specials when you go shopping or just shop on cut price day, which is always Monday's here, where you get $30 off your $200 grocery shop.
With a cyclone last year we were paying $18 a pound for bananas, and $5 each a avocado, there back down to $2 a pound and buy a bag of 8 avocado's for a $1.50. So it's not just only in the United States it's bleeping everywhere.
Lot of us US expats live here.
Food prices always continue to rise. But the past several years pay has not gone up to keep pace. Our country has at some point allowed the influx of cheaply produced foreign goods. This will continue to affect our economy for years, probably forever. Most of this stuff we could manufacture here in the US, but in the 70's, 80's or so we allowed it to be made elsewhere because people overseas were willing to work for a lower wage to produce it. (Some of the foreign goods are exported here tax-free but much of it is actually taxed depending on the country.) I personlly don't like Obama especially in regard to his 2009 bailout of the banks. (Also, his Cash For Clunkers plan astronomically raised the price of used cars so teens or their parents buying a car in 2012 can expect to pay 1/3 to 1/2 more than 2-3 years ago) . But Obama or not, it's now a global econony. Food prices are rising because the price of fuel to produce, refrigerate, and transport goods has risen astronomically. Corn can now be used to feed us, or to fuel our cars (ethenol) so it's a more valuable commodity - i.e., fuel vs. meat. Crude oil prices fluctaute depending on weather, travel season, etc. When oil goes up so do our heat bills as well as gas and food prices. There are many factors at play. It's all in Econ 101 people.
Food prices and other goods of services will continue to rise; if Obama is elected for a second term; or the next POTUS after him. The POTUS doesn't set the prices of goods and services; with the exception of Marshal Law.
The martial law concept in the U.S. is closely tied with the right of habeas corpus, which is in essence the right to a hearing on lawful imprisonment, or more broadly, the supervision of law enforcement by the judiciary. The ability to suspend habeas corpus is often equated with martial law.[citation needed] Article 1, Section 9 of the U.S. Constitution states, "The Privilege of the Writ of Habeas Corpus shall not be suspended, unless when in Cases of Rebellion or Invasion the public Safety may require it."
Huh?
In the US, food prices have continuously increased all my life. Of course, this is owed to continuous, unhealthy inflation (which US richclass propagandizing economists "fail" to report) and US richclass corporate ripoffs of the US working class public.
Only when I moved to Japan could I find food (and food imports) subsidized by the Japan government, and in order to stabilize prices for the consumer. Food prices in Japan are the same as they were 15 years ago.
But then, you couldn't begin to imagine a government subsidizing for the benefit of the actual consumer -- rather than thieving US richclass.
Gas prices went up. That effects everything. Also there were floods in many places around the world effecting planted fields to include the US. There really is a food shortage. Add to that they are still using corn for ethanol. All corn and corn fed products are very expensive now. Our dollar is also worth less than it was.
The Inflation of the US. Dollar. Just ask Ben Bernanke why the prices are rising.
gas and ethanol directly effect everything including food
ethanol is made out of corn, the price of corn goes up because its sold to make ethanol, that corn is what is used to feed livestock, the higher gasoline prices forces delivery and manufacturing cost to rise. that all goes on the consumer.
that pipline is more important then most people know.
Because of the neocons. God has chosen to punish Texas for it's misdeeds as a Neocon State and has brought down upon it a severe drought, accompanied by the Flaming Sword of the Lord. As a result, food prices have gone up because the scorched and parched land cannot support the cattle industry.
Because of the lack of regulations on speculations on food. Obama has not passed any meaningful barrier to speculating on food. World food rices rose rapidly in 2008, due almost entirely to speculation. Food isn't getting any harder to make, and people don't need it more than they did before, so there's no supply and demand explanation, its just because of for-profit loans.
