  • Don't think Home basic has all the eye candy, i could be wrong as I don't do Vista

It would have to be a pretty well specced machine to run transparancy apparantly.

  • Windows Vista Home Basic is the only version of Windows Vista that does not have Windows Aero. Windows Vista Home Basic is usually used on computers that cannot handle Windows Aero. Though, if you think your computer is 'good' enough, check out Microsoft's System requirements for Home Premium, Business, and Ultimate.

If your computer does not meet those requirements, than you're better off staying with Home Basic, if you upgrade to Home Premium than you might notice that you're computer becomes slower thanks to Windows Aero.

If you want to upgrade open your Control Panel then click on 'Get Started with Windows' under the System and Maintenance section. Here you will see your computers information, and you can see if your computer can handle an upgrade. If so, click Windows Anytime Upgrade and buy an upgrade.

Good luck and I hope you find a version of Vista that satisfies your needs.

  • I'm sorry to say, but Microsoft Windows Vista DOES NOT, repeat, DOES NOT, have that feature. It really sucks. The Windows Aero (Transparency) is included only in Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium, Business, and Ultimate. If you really want it, then I would say, upgrade to Vista Home Premium.

  • the transparency effect on Vista is only available on the business version, its not available on the Home Basic version.

  • Hello:

Home basic may not have that effect. I believe it is part of the Areo Glass interface, which Home basic does not have.

    Cheers!
