Guys I've got a serious problem. Please help.?

I would really like to know how to get blood stains out of a carpet. No this isn't a joke. I sliced my leg open over my rug and blood splattered all over the wall and rug. Now I'd rather not have my home looking like a crime scene. Any tips on how to get the blood out?

  • remember to use cold water.

get a bowel with 4 cups cold water, 2 table spoons salt, and 1 table spoon H2o2 (Peroxide)

get a terry cloth wash cloth and soak it in the mixture, after ringing it out until it's just damp us use the cloth to dab/blot the stain clean, don't scrub it unless the blood has already dried.

If the blood has already dried then use a tooth brush

  • I would wet the stain with a solution of salt and water and wash the area with a paste of salt and water until it is gone or at least almost gone and then wash again with soap, dishwashing soap, laundry soap, or bar soap and water if necessary. You could possibly use soap and salt paste at the same time too.

You could try hydrogen peroxide, but I think I have heard that it could bleach the fabric, so test that one in the obligatory inconspicuous area first.

Of course, oxy clean might work beautifully. I got a big chili stain completely out of a carpet with that stuff once.

The salt water "unsets" a set blood stain, so whatever method you use to remove it, you can dilute the stain with the solution first to help ensure success.

  • I'm with the 1st poster. It's imperative to get as much of it up as you can before it dries, or 'sets'. I would then follow with a mild ammonia solution just for good measure (see link).

  • Hydrogen peroxide!!!! It work's great to get blood out of any kind of fabric. Try it...It will work. It will NOT bleach fabric. Personally I use straight peroxide.

  • wash & rinse (soak & pat dry) with COLD water then repeat again & again
