How do I request transcripts?

After high school, I decided not to attend university right away. I just wasn't ready to yet, and now that I am applying to colleges, I need to get my transcripts from the high school. I know I have to have them sent directly from the school, to the college, but I'm not sure how to request that. What would I state in the request? Do I e-mail them? Write a letter? Is there a form I should just fill out and send them? Also, do I send multiple single requests for all the different schools I'm applying to, or just one and include everywhere I need them sent?

  • I just went to the schools office and they took it from there.

  • Schools send transcripts all the time. Just write a letter to your High School and say "Please send my High School transcript to the colleges listed below. I graduated in 2004. Thank you." and sign your name. On that same piece of paper, include all the names and addresses of who they need to send the transcripts to. Then the nice lady in the school office can do it all at once, and not have a million papers on her desk.

Just to be sure, you could call the High School and ask if there is a special form they want you to fill out. They may have something on their website you can download for this purpose.

  • you can check your high schools website and see if you can request an order online, or you have to go to your high school's admissions office a fill out a form there. you fill out a form and on that form you have to put the address of each school you want a copy sent to and then pay the applicable charges. to make the most out of your college experience check out www.collegetipsntricks.com

  • Call your high school and ask them what you need to do. That's the easiest way.
