How do you return slices?

When I try to return them with a normal ground stroke, they go into the net. When I try to return them with a slice, they go long. When I try returning them with a lob, they fall short and are easily put away by my opponent. What's the best way to return them?

Update:

I'm also only around the 3.5 level if that means anything.

  • Control. That's what you will need. Don't recommend returning it with another slice-extremely tricky. You will need to focus completely on the ball and use lift to get it over the net. To sum it up-use lift, focus and control. Keep practicing returning slices-get a partner to hit that kind of shot to you over and over until you learn. It will take experience :) good luck!

  • when you training practice more on slices because the best way to return a slice is with another slice and maybe do a drop shot from time to time to add variety to your game so it doesn't get predictable because even though a slice is the best way to return a slice your opponent could see it coming and just attack off the slice or if you think your opponent will do a slice come to the net and hit a volley because then the point is in your control so you will probably win the point from there.

  • go with top spin or mini lob
