Help with Windows Vista Service Pack?

I recently bought a wireless router. The router told me in order to connect to the internet, I would need to upgrade to Windows Vista Service Pack 1. I have been installing it, but I ran into a problem. Somewhere in the second stage, the screen went black, then started listing things. It stops on 7268/76244. It then reads, "!!0xc0000034!! 7268/76244 x86 microsoft windows advapitr 31bf3856bd...) How can I fix this?

You probably can by trouble shooting if you have some knowledge about repairing computers or by formatting your computer; that would be the easiest way to go if you are not cp person but you will lose all you files.
