Vertical jump technique?

Does jumping like this (legs swing backwards towards butt while in the air) help increase vertical or horizontal distance?

A bit of advice on the technique please, thank you!

  • it increases forward momentum slightly. by making your body as small as possible you can decrease any resistance the air around you puts on your body.

    for a small experiment next time your in your car stick your hand out the window so that your hand is open and facing the same direction the car is moving. after a few seconds ball your hand into a fist and you will find that there is less resistance.
