a physics problem.please help?

two wooden ,if the first is placed on the second ,2/5 of volume of the lower cube is immersed in water if this situation reversed it was found that 1/20 of the volume of the lower is immersed find the ratio between their sides

Update:

two wooden cubes ,if the first is placed on the second ,2/5 of volume of the lower cube is immersed in water if this situation reversed it was found that 1/20 of the volume of the lower is immersed find the ratio between their sides

Comments

  • the volume of water displaced in the first case is .4*s1^3 where s1 is the side length of the first cube and .4 = 2/5. This is equal to the volume of the water displaced in the second case

=.05*s2^3 where s2 is the side length of the second cube and .05 = 1/20 We can write:

.4*s1^3 = .05*s2^3 which gives 8*s1^3=s2^3 Now take the cube root of both sides:

    2*s1=s2

  • two wooden what?
