Is my e6320 1.86Ghz Core2Duo Processor bottlenecking my gtx295 GPU?
I have a P5QL-Pro mobo, vista sp1 64 bit OS. Intel Core2duo E6320 1.86Ghz 4 mb cache 1066Mhz bus speed, 8 gb kingston pc2 800 ram (2x4), cougar 700 watts PSU, and a GTX 295 Video card. My games such as Crysis, far cry 2, Prince of Persia 2008, World of Warcraft run on an average of 30 FPS. And GTA4 runs on 20-25 FPS only. sometimes it drops to 10-15 fps... what are the possible reasons?
I'm pretty sure my PC is virus free and i defragment often. I also have enough disk space... Please help. especially those who are having the same problem as me or who could help me. The only thing I have right now is that I think my CPU or bottlenecking my GPU... Finally, If i upgraded my CPU to a Core2Quad 2.83 Ghz 12 mb cache will my GTX 295 perform at its peak?

Your CPU is 100% the bottleneck. Upgrade to a ~3.0GHz dual core or a ~2.4GHz quad core. This will GREATLY improve your performance.
You could always use more speed on the processor. Before you do that, I would suggest you update the BIOS as you should be heading to a 1333FSB and I am not sure it is supported on the BIOS version your on, this is something they could have added.
Your running 800mHz ram, you may want to update that also to 1066.
Since you have 8GB then I have to assume your using the 64Bit OS, and it is not actually tune for alot of programs, are you sure this is not the issue?
The way to find out is to install the 32Bit OS and test it on the same system.
If you are infact using the 32 and not the 64, 5GB is wasted and not even being used.
If your thinking, I aint friggin wasting money on another OS, Find the Win 7 RC 32 and 64 bits and try them, do not Torrent them as they are infected. http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windows-7/install...
Simple answer... yes.
Your CPU is most definately bottlenecking. Your RAM is fine, your PSU is fine, your CPU aint. It is below par.
You want a minimum of a E8400 (which i recommend as not only is it cheap but it also is a C2D so is generally better than gaming than a C2Q).
POSSIBLY.
But you don't need to upgrade that high. An E8400 as a dual core, or a Q6600 should be all you need, as cpu doesn't usually bottleneck a graphics card.
