Sprinkler system leak - temporary fix?

I have a leak in the ball joint of my back flow preventor. The regulator is fine and I placed the little plastic piece that was broke. I am trying to do this on the cheap and quick to get some water on my lawn ASAP. Can I patch the crack with anything? Would plumpers goop hold with the water pressure? I guess it would have to be something that hardens so it does not get blown off when I turn on the water. (like plumbers putty did) I was thinking of trying a liquid soder? I just need it to hold for about a month until my husband returns from business to fix it. Any ideas or is this a lost cause? One more question, can the just the ball joint be replaced without having to buy the regulator too?

  • You'll need an epoxy that works on plastic. They sell it in a long tube in the plumbing supply section, same place as the plumbers putty usually. It's sold in a roll and you slice off enough for the job, and knead it until the black and white portions blend into a grey color. then apply to your crack, working it inside the crack is critical, and then clamp and let dry.

  • The leak is in basic terms on the clamp splendid? you could desire to have the skill to apply some Plumbers Epoxy and attach that. Or any style of comparable sealant the two wrapped or pasted around the joint. i could positioned this on the hose and the reapply the clamp. i could additionally positioned some around the clamp itself. be constructive to permit treatment time and then attempt lower back. Oh, reckoning on the line which you're using, you will possibly no longer want to tighten the clamp too plenty, as this could initiate a leak all on it rather is very own.
