How do I leave a temp agency?

I got one that is so bad that doesn't offer me work and they say there's nothing, (I call bs) because I went to another one and they offer me work almost every week.

How do I leave them?

  • You just let them know that you are no longer looking for temp work. Simple.

  • If you didn't sign a contract, simply tell them you are no longer available for work through them - or if they finally tell you they have a job either take it or tell them you are already working via another agency. Nothing prevents you from being with more than one agency, does it?

It makes me wonder just what kind of input they're getting from the employers they've sent you to. I have a friend who lost three jobs for reasons beyond her control (two mergers and one company went out of business). She worked via a temp agency and her last 3 jobs were with companies which took her on as a temp but hired her full-time because she is so good at her job (accounting).

I suspect they aren't getting good reviews on you. Their agency is on the line you know. If they don't provide employers with good and/or satisfactory workers then those employers will stop using their services and they'll lose business. Ask the agency what kind of reviews they are getting on you.

It might also be that they aren't getting any, or many, requests for workers with your skill set - if you have a skill set.
