How to setup a minecraft server?

Whats up guys. Well, I bought a server off a website called 'streamline' for $30 a month, but I don't know how to get it started. I have the I.P, but when I do it it says my server it outdated. If you could please explain to me step by step on what to do after renting a server to make it a online server which is playable, or leave a skype and help me out and play on the server with me and make youtube videos, please help me!
