Sanyo turntable record player power adapter 12v problem?

I just bought a Sanyo turntable (model tp v6). It came with a power plug that the guy at radioshack deemed proprietary, meaning that it was made to plug into a specific jack on a specific receiver. I do not have the receiver.

The plug is tiny and white and has two female connections. Where it connect it says 12 volts, and i know that it is DC because it is a DC belt driven turnatble.

Is there any hope?

  • Try a 12v transformer that plugs into the wall on one end, and plugs into your turntable on the other. You may have to cut the plug off the DC end and wire it in yourself.

There are risks to the turntable since you have no documentation. I would try a 500 milliamp transformer. Try to be sure you are connecting positive and negative correctly. A simple volt meter is helpful here.
