How do I fix my car aerial?
Its for a Mazda 1998 car, the aerial is either stuck or the motor doesn't work, but the motor does make a whirring noise when I turn the key in the ignition. Have tried pulling the aerial out but it won't budge, and can't find the box where all the motor would be. I can only see one large panel to take off rather than just a little one, any ideas? Used WD40 already to no effect

It's not uncommon for the nylon or plastic gears in the power antennae mechanism to break and or seize.
I can't say with any certainty, but an attempt at repairing the unit would be an exercise in futility.
Simply put, you need a new power antennae assembly.
You may have to remove that large interior trunk panel to access the unit.
You do have options, however. If you're the kind of person who likes your car to be bone stock and repaired by the dealer, then you will have to buy the OEM unit and have it professionally installed, BUT . . .
If you're like me, you'll always avoid the high cost of OEM parts and seek either a used unit (not wise because one the same age as the one you have will be on its way to breaking its plastic gears too) or look for an aftermarket alternative such as an antennae that sticks on to the inside of the windshield or hides under the carpet.
You need to have the Antenna Mast assembly replaced. This is a common failure. I could give you more detailed info, but you didn't mention what model 98 Mazda.
the motor should be inside the fender, unhook it and pull the ariel up.
its shafted...inside the arial is a toothed plastic tube, its that that has failed....replace full unit...
