laptop video problem pliz help?

I have tried playing dvds on my laptop but everytime i put the dvd the font and everything on the screen increases in size and the videos play but the colours are very faded and it looks like cartoons .Does anyone know what i should do to make it normal again.

  • It would seem that when you play a DVD your screens resolution and bit depth are reduced.

    I would first try, after the problem happens, to right-click on the desktop, choose Properties at the bottom of the pop-up menu, go to the Settings tab (far right), and then in that window drag the slider to the right to increase the resolution, and use the drop-down menu to make the color quality highest, and push OK. That should fix the problem, at least at the moment.

    If it doesn't fix the problem, it's possible that the DVD program requires the low resolution. You could try another program (search online or you could try VLC player http://www.videolan.org/vlc/download-windows.html) and see if that doesn't have the same problem.

    If it does still have a problem, the only thing left I could think of would be the video card -- maybe it's just not good enough to render all the colors and pixels of a DVD movie. Do you have an old and/or cheap laptop?
