Do strength shoes increase your vertical?

I play basketball and can dunk but I want to be able to dunk easier. With my strength shoes I do light deadlifts, high knees, and but kicks in high reps. Will this increase my vertical, and if so how much? What other workouts should I do to gain jumping ability?

  • What the carbon shank does in the shoes is to provide a reactive lever when applying force into the ground and will support your foot muscles when driving your foot into the ground. Other shoes can be found with stiffer soles, but not with the carbon shank. Nike Kobes and Hyperdunks are an example of shoes with a carbon shank and these are something you should consider.

As for how much they will increase your jump will differ between individuals and how well you jump in the first place. There are several training programs around that do help. Try the site in the link below for some info on these.

    Good luck!
