How do high school AP exam scores transfer to college?

I got a D in an AP class senior year, but passed the exam with a 3. So, if I take the college credit, will the D I got be transferred onto my college transcript or will I just get the credit with an A? I'm confused on how this works....

  • your grade does not matter.

Each university has its own policies on AP and CLEP exams. Some only take certain tests, some require a 3 for some and 4 for others. Some won't take any. You should read up on the policy of the university you plan to attend. You are simply given credit, not a grade, for the course if they accept the score of 3. It does not affect your GPA

  • Scoring a 3 or higher gets you the credit for the course. Grades from high school do not transfer.

  • You have to look up the University you're applying too and look up what AP score you need to earn credit for the course. The D won't really matter in getting credit for it but it won't look good on your transcript. lol
