In a ratio, add the numbers to find the total items in one set.
So your balloons are in a ratio of 5:2 That means there are 5+2 = 7 balloons in one set.
How many sets are there in the total?
35/7 = 5 sets of balloons
There are therefore 5 lots of 5 red ballons (25) and 5 lots of 2 yellow balloons (10)
25 red; 10 yellow
5x + 2x = 35
7x = 35
x = 5
5(5) = 25 red balloons
2(5) = 10 yellow balloons
