How do you pronounce Clara?

Do you pronounce Clara as:

Claire-uh or Clah-rah?

I don't mind if you don't like this name. My husband and I both like it pronounced as Claire-uh, but wouldn't choose a name that would be mispronounced often... Do you think Claira would look trashy?

BQ: middle name for Clara?

    I think in the UK, it's more often pronounced Clah-rah, while in the US, Clara.

    So whether it would be mispronounced depends on where you live. I would definitely NOT spell it Claira. It looks silly.

    BQ: I have Clara Genevieve on my own list.

    I live in New York and I pronounce it as clah-ruh. Sometimes the pronunciation of a name depends on where you're from, as different regions have different accents. Where are you from? Do most people in your neighborhood pronounce it the same as you do?

    I don't think Claira would look trashy, but it definitely doesn't look as nice, simple, and elegant as Clara to me. If you really want to avoid mispronunciation issues, though, spell it Claira. It's not that bad. It's not like your butchering the spelling.

    I love Clara! It's so pretty, cute, and classy! I pronounce it Claire-uh!!!! :) I think Claira just looks weird and would get misspelled a lot more than Clara would get mispronounced.

    I pronounce it Claire-uh. I personally think Clara is a nice name but replaced it with Claire. I think Claira just looks weird and it would be misspelled.

    I pronounce it the way you do, but I'm sure most people don't, I used to know a Clara. But I think spelling it Claira is a good, non-trashy way (i actually find this spelling way cuter) to make sure it isn't mispronounced, like in school when a teacher is taking attendance for example.

    I pronounce it Clah-ruh (might just be because of my accent), but I think both pronunciations are very similar anyway..I prefer the spelling Clara, even with your pronunciation of it

    I live in Ireland, and it's always pronounced clah-rah here, I've never heard anyone say claire-uh. I guess it depends on your accent and where you're from :)
