diagnose mental disease?
Someone I know has been having this problem for a couple of years now: whenever someone compliments her, she'll be fine at the time. But later on, she'll start thinking/deluding that they were actually insulting her. Although she knows that it was actually a compliment, her mind keeps telling her that it wasn't. (Its not exactly memory loss...just alteration). This problem is getting very severe, and I'm starting to think that its one of the early symptoms of some neurological disease. I would high appreciate your help.

Yeah, it sounds a lot like the symptoms of schizophrenia. Second-guessing is a hallmark sign.
sounds like schizophrenia, have her get medical attention before it gets any worse
