How do I add my avatar onto my tumblr?

It says that I have an avatar on my dashboard, and when I go to the settings there is already a picture there. But when I go onto my blog on the left hand corner of the tab there isn't a picture, and where there is supposed to be a picture of me, there isn't one. Does anyone know how to get it to show up on my actual blog? Thanks :)

Update:

I have gone to my settings and changed the avatar a few times, but it just doesn't show up on the blog itself

    go to settings, click on your blog name, and at the top next to your picture it should say "change avatar" click that and change your picture :)
