Well they aren't always going to do "sit" and "rollover" like a dog. Sometimes they aren't enthusiastic about it but they will do certain tricks if you train them enough. They do a lot of cool things on their own but here are some examples http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3gKPpXkPzFA My one cat will meow when you tell him and jump on your shoulders when you tell him to. My other one will go up to my dog and wave if you ask her to (but the dog gets mad).
When my cat was a kitten and took 2 hand to hold i used her a couple times to open the door and a couple days later she jumped up and opened it herself i made a vid:
i'm teaching my cat to sit... haha, he doesn't get it yet, he's not the smartest. but my other kitty is super smart, and i'm teaching her to stand up on her hind legs when i say 'up'. i give them treats when they do the trick right, which they like. when you give treats though, try to get freeze dried, and some that have lots of protein in them. those are the best for kitties!

My cat is the best cat.
He's a male, and he's roughly a year and a half old.
I've managed to teach him how to do a toetouch in the air, a backhandspring, and basic commands like sit, lay down, come here, stay, etc.
I also sometimes tell him to "go get her" as in chase my other cat that I have
