How can I calm myself from paranoia quickly?

I just woke up around 2am and I saw my dog wasn't in the room with me. I usually sleep with her for comfort. I got up to go get her, but she didnt want to come back. Now I'm sitting here in my room literally shaking and freaking out about every sound I hear. I know it would help to lock all the doors in the house, but I've already done that. Are there any more ways to make myself more comfortable so I can go back to sleep?
