Sims 2 Custom Content. HELP!!?

I install my Sims 2 custom content as required from all different website but only the ones from thesims2.ea.com show up. The one from xmsims2 and modthesims2 and other sites only show up as plain straight regular colour hairstyles. What do I do to make these show up like the pictures in the description when I download them? Help Fast!!!

    Do they need custom meshes? You have to make sure that you have the right mesh and that it doesn't conflict with one of the game-installed ones.
