Any help will be much appreciated. Haven't taken algebra in about 10 years so i'm really having trouble..

Thanks Guys!

If an object is dropped from a height of 144 feet, the function h(t) = -16t^2 + 144 gives the height of the object after t seconds. When will the object hit the ground?

A. 9 s

B. 6 s

C. 1.5 s

D. 3 s

Solve the system of equations.

y = -0.04x^2 + 8.3x

y = 1.12x + 1.6

A. no solution

B. (0.22, 1.85)

C. (179.28, 202.39)

D. (0.22, 1.85) and (179.28, 202.39)

What are the solutions of the equation?

c^2 - 10c = 0

What are the solutions of the system?

y = x^2 = 4x - 5

y = 2x - 2

A. (–3, –8) and (1, 0)

B. (–3, –8) and (–1, –4)

C. (–3, 0) and (1, –8)

D. no solution

Comments

  • y = -0.04x^2 + 8.3x

    y = 1.12x + 1.6

    -1/25*X^2+359/50*X-8/5

    Standard form: a(X-h)²+k = ( -1/25X² +359/50X -128881/400) +128881/400 -8/5 = -1/25(X -359/4)² +128241/400

    X = 359/4 ±√( 128241/16) = 8491/38056, or 6822561/38056

    X=179.27688143792344 and 0.22311856207656433
