Seasick from computer games?

I play a lot of computer games on my spare time, and a lot are of the genre, "first person shooters" (FPS). To define that genre for you, you (most of the time) don't see much more than just a gun at the bottom right of your screen and a lot of bad guys to shoot at.

I've had this problem in many different games, it ranges all from the original Half-life (several years ago) to the newest Medal of Honor: Airborne. It probably does not have anything with the graphics, but I get extremely seasick from playing these titles. It's come so close that i have to look away from the monitor and dizzily walk away towards the bathroom just because it feels like I have to vomit!

It feels like the game packaging should have text that says: "This game has extreme character movements and can cause seasickness"

Here's the funny thing: I Don't get seasickness on a real boat, or any sea or anything! Is there any home cure or something I can do for treating seasickness? Has anyone else experienced this?

  • I wouldn't classify that as seasickness, but more of a motion sickness. Like if you read in a car too long. Something about starring a something that is still and seeing the scenery go by out of the corner of your eye can make you feel sick after a while.

My only suggestion, if you insist on continuing to play these games would be to make sure to take regular breaks from the game. Don't sit there for hours at a time. Play for 30 minutes or an hour if you can then pause the game. Go back 10 minutes or so later.

  • this happens cause if u sit in front of the pc so many hours and u play fps the only thing u see is the movements of your character and then u focus there and u sit in small distance probably from the monitor

i know i was playing counter strike but i am siting in front of the monitor all day loool

two things u can do for that are:

-- to take a 10 min break for every hour of playing(ok i know it is kinda too much thats the ''rules'' but u sud do at least 2 mins)

--sit in a bigger distance from the monitor

take care watch your eyes they are the most sensitive part of your eyes...
