and erase files by rebooting...not restart it!! Please no stupid answers like: "restart your computer or press Ctrl+Alt+Del." It doesn't work. And I have a Dell Inspiron 2009 computer.
If you want your computer to go back to how it was when it was brand new, what you should do is reinstall Windows (or MacOS, whatever you have), and choose the option to format the drive during the reinstall process.
But, not to be pedantic, but what I described above isn't called "rebooting". Rebooting only means restarting the computer, and has nothing to do with deleting files. So that's probably why people have been telling you "just restart it".
The only thing that a computer erases upon restart is data stored in RAM memory. This is considered Volitile. Unsaved items count as volitile. Most computers are specifically designed NOT to delete files saved in Non-volitile memory like the hard drive at the time of reboot though.
If one were to reformat the computer and then force a reboot. erasure would be quite certain.. also, if one did a D.O.D. 5.22.1 erasure and then rebooted, the data would be deleted and unrecoverable.
but as far as a normal functioning system, dont expect a useful answer beyond the sarcastic ones you already declined.

Restarting any computer DOES NOT erase anything!
A hard boot has you shut down. Leave it of 2 - 3 minutes then power up self test (post).
You need to un-install or delete files by hand. Turning your computer off and then on removes nothing. Sorry. ;(
Stupid answers tend to follow stupid questions, what do you mean by erase files by rebooting?
Rebooting isn't there to erase files, it's just a term used to describe switching the PC off and on again.
What are you actually trying to achieve?
