Does exercise really help menstrual cramps?

I've heard mixed reviews on articles online so I'm curious.

I'm having highly severe pain from my menstruation going on day 12 and I have surgery to check for endometriosis in a couple days. I have to survive without NSAIDs and supplements until then. Which isn't working well...

Update:

Basically I can't have pain killers before surgery. I've been using a heating pad but even that can't keep the horrendous pain away ;_; I feel like I'm being torn apart

  • If you can't take anything, what works good is to lay on your stomach and have someone sit on your back. I don't know if you have anyone who would be willing to sit on you for a long time. Maybe you could find something heavy like an old television and have them put it on you. This works really good. Anything with weight will help. Put it on the small of the back.

  • it helps some women who exercise regularly. like 4-6 days a week. just exercising when you have the pain is not going to help you.

  • it depends on you. it works for some people not for others. the idea is to stretch out the muscles and stop them being so tight which makes it hurt.

  • Not for me,the only thing that helps is ADVIL :) exercise make it even worse you stir up everything inside and get tired -_-

  • Nope. It doesn't. All you can do is take medicines to lessen the stomach cramps. Good luck.

  • Hi,

Pl.try pain killer ibuprofen for cramps. You can use hot water bottle also.
