How to break bad grade to parents?
I'm a freshman in high school, and I got an F on my Algebra final ((( but the thing is: I DID actually study, the teacher even let us have a cheatsheet notecard. I was really confident in the test, too. How do I explain to my mom that I put effort in and still failed

You should talk to them when theyre in a good mood and theyre not busy, idk why my parents get even madder if I tell them a bad news when theyre kind of busy or doing something else
so tell them after dinner or when theyre just chilling
break it to them by saying something like "i failed this course, but i tried a lot and i didnt expect this myself"
theyll be obviously mad/shocked at first, then you tell them what you think went wrong and why you think you failed: "I studied a lot, but i feel like i should have gone to extra help and understood everything i had trouble with while doing my homework" something like that would make your parents feel like you are responsible and you are uspet about your mark, and that you care about it and have a good attitude about it
then tell them the next steps you would take to make sure this does not happen again, and show it (study in front of them, cut down your tv time noticeably, and talk to them about setting goals for the next semester/year)
Good luck
Parent's dont care if you tried or studied, if you fail;you fail. I'd recommend telling your father/mother as bluntly as possible, just say something along the lines of "I failed my algebra final. I'm sorry. It won't happen again." Putting it off, or trying to avoid being direct by making excuses will only make whatever happens worse.
