How to copy a DVD onto computer?

Hey. My year & I performed West Side Story this weekend and it was amazing. We have been rehearsing for about 7 months, so we were great. We are each getting DVD of the performance, but I want to copy it onto my computer and make a few extra copies, as it is something that I would like to be able to remember for the rest of my life.

Also, if you know how I could cut out the song scenes and turn them into mp3 files that would be brilliant.
