I think he can be a star on a team willing to give him the max. I see him putting up numbers like this next season. 18ppg/8rpg/3apg/2bpg/1spg/50% from field. He is worth the max.

He is really really efficient every year and underrated as well. All those stats you mentioned are impressive for him and he's not even on a bad team either. The Hawks are a decent playoff team each year but not good enough to get out of the first or second round . if Josh Smith can sign with a high level team then he himself could be worth a max contract such as with the Rockets, or Mavericks.
Can you name three better powerful forwards under the age of 35? Millsap is not better! Amare when healthy is not better, so Kevin, Dirk and Tim are all better but are also all up in years and on the decline, so outside of Millsap and Amare when healthy, which is never, and even healthy not better, Bosh is the only one who comes close but he is more of a center, so pay Josh the max, he deserves it. Without Joe Johnson they still made the playoffs, and why do you think that was? Please don't say Davis is better, he had five minutes under his belt, Randolph needs to be motivated and was not great prior to becoming a Grizzlies player. He also is very streaky, good but not Smith worthy. I LOVE GRIFFIN. I hope you see the play on words here. Kevin is close but did he take the Timberwolves to the playoffs with similar talent to The Hawks, minus injuries? NO, plus he is more a rebounder who just developed a great shoot. Not there yet, and Griffin is a beast. He is a dunk artist, but with Paul and Billups and Bledsoe my grandmother could play the power position. Griffin is one dimensional and might be a little more hype than substance. Is Smith Malone, Barkley, or 2001 Duncan? NO!!!! But he is the best power forward in the game today. No I wouldn't give him a max contract. He's not consistant enough to be a team leader of a championship contender. He's not enough top 5 in his position regardless if you consider him a small forward or power forward. He will be paid but not max contract probably in the range of 10-13 Million a year
No way, he gets bounced out the first or 2nd round every year, if anything he deserves a medium size contract. Although if you put him on the spurs he would be a huge addition.. So maybe he deserves a max contract but he needs a better supporting cast cuz His Hawks arent enough..
Maybe, I wouldn't give it to em though, his shot selection is very questionable to say the least and u can't be a max player with a questionable shot selection. Honestly I think he's worth around 15 million a year.
