are you vacuuming with the filter set to filter? There could be a problem in the head of your filter. There is a tube that connects to the top of the sand filter and goes through the sand to the bottom. It has several fingers attached to it at the bottom with screens on the ends. If this pipe has come off or is cracked it could force debris back in the pool. Also the valve on the top of the filter could be faulty. I suggest you check these things or call a pool service company.
