How Do I Transplant a Bonsai Tree Temporarily?

Alright, so I've got a bonsai tree and my sister's cat jumped up on the table where it was sitting and knocked it over. The pot it was in broke and I just need to know how I can properly transplant it into something like a glass bowl until my mom gets back from visiting relatives so we can get a proper holding pot for it. I'm not really a gardener but the roots seem pretty condense which I do know means it needed to be transplanted anyway...Is there anything I should know about transplanting a bonsai tree before I just go ahead and do it? And would a glass bowl be bad for a bonsai tree (it would be in there for two or three days at the most)?

Any help is welcome and appreciated.

  • Lay it in a pan large enough to hold the entire plant.

Be sure to save all the soil and try not to disturb the rootball.

Take several paper towels and wet them. Cover the soil and roots with the towels. Place container out of direct sunlight.

Wait until mom gets back and gives you hell :)
