Is College Park, Geogia safe?

I plan on staying at, the SpringHill Suites in College Park, Ga. It's on Convention Center Concourse in walking distance of the Georgia International Convention Center. And I was wondering if it is a safe area...

  • first of all, the hotel you're staying at isn't really in college park, it's in a convention center complex that you use the skytrain to get to from the airport, so i wouldn't worry about crime. it's rated super-good on tripadvisor.

second of all, college park is actually pretty nice. it's very quiet, it has tons of historic homes and it has a nice downtown area with restaurants and such. college park used to be kind of rough back in the 80s but it was never a ghetto or anything. the private school woodward academy, where a lot of ritzy folks send their kids, is right in downtown college park, and the campus is laid out with multiple buildings. i don't think they'd send their kids to a place they didn't think was safe.

a lot of people don't like college park because there are a lot of black people that live there. people come up with BS excuses though like "high crime", "urban", "thug", etc. to describe areas with black people. it's really ignorant.

  • College Park in general is not a safe city. It's often in the news.

  • "Is it safe . . . is it safe?"
