Rock Lee uses Ninjutsu in Naruto episode 31?
Is Rock Lee using Ninjutsu in Naruto episode 31?
He is fighting against a Sound Ninja to protect Sakura and an unconscious Sasuke.
This is what he does:
1. Plunge hand into ground.
2. Create a barrier made out of wood/earth.
Isn't that a type of Ninjutsu?

No, it's not a ninjutsu, he just uses his strength to make the barrier. He doesn't make any hand seals or anything . . . no very-convenient shouting out of the name of the ninjutsu, either.
I've always wondered about this "Lee can't use ninjutsu" thing. From everything I've read, apparently Lee is unable to mold his chakra, hence his inability to use ninjutsu. However, I distinctly remember his walking on water sometime during Shippuuden . . . I think sometime in the episodes about the Sanbi. Wasn't walking on water one of the chakra molding exercises?

rock lee is a tai-jutsu user only... he can't mold chakara to do nin-jutsu or gen-jutsu. Also about the episode, if you look closely you'll see that all he does there ispull a tree root out of the ground. that's not nin-jutsu but pure strength
taijutsu. rock lee only uses his stength, no chakra or weapons.
