Should my dad go see a doctor?
My dad woke up today really scared saying he's losing his vison.
He told me that when he focuses on an object, the surroundings look blurry, not as clear as the focus point. I told him thats normal. He has like nervous breakdowns so i thought that it was probably him making something smal a huge issue. Should he go to the doctor.

Its not clear if you are asking us if your should believe him or if he really could be having tunnel vision. I don't think we can tell you whether you should believe him or not. But, sure its possible he could be having tunnel vision and if he is, he should have it looked into.
Definatly go to see your gp, blurred vision can be caused by a number of different things, some of which are quite dangerous. It can be an indication of high blood pressure, if he has hit his head in the last few days it could be pooling of blood or bruising and swelling around his optic nerve or it could be something more minor, like short/long sightedness which can manifest rapidly after a certain age. If he has an inadequate supply of rhodopsin, which is a mixture of vitamin A and protein, it can result in blurred vision, but aside from theorizing what it could be, a doctor would be able to diagnose it definatly. Don't mess around when it comes to a problem with your sight. Hope its not too serious. good luck!
If your father can be a nervous breakdown, I think you need to go to the doctor, who will pick up the necessary medication to reduce anxiety. And as a result, may be deteriorating sight, because of nervous tension a person is unable to concentrate mind on a particular object.

I would suggest talking to your dad about making an appointment to have this eyes tested by an optometrist.
A full eye test takes about an hour and they are very thorough.
Sight problems can be pretty scary, especially if you're prone to worry.
He may just need glasses but if there is anything more serious going on he will be referred to see a specialist.
Hope that helps.
no, this is what your eyes are supposed to do. Thats what "Foucising" is, making the object you are closley looking at very clear, and filtering out the surrounding objects.
ABSOLUTELY! He could have high blood pressure(which leads to stroke) or Glaucoma-which can be treated to help slow its progress. I'm sure that he doesn't want to be a vegetable or completely blind! Make him go-and go with him!
The answer is yes.
Even if he makes it up, only the doctor can put him at ease. And you cannot examine him professionally either.
Best wishes!
If this continues he must go!
