HELP! Pre-Algebra word problem!?

There is a 3 degree drop in temperature for every thousand feet that an airplane climbs into the sky. If the temperature on the ground is 50 degrees, what will be the temperature when the plane reaches an altitude of 24,000 feet?

I need this answered for tomorrow. Thanks for any help!

  •  Temperature as a function of altitude at a specific place and climate is:

       T = 50 − (3h ⁄ 1000) ... where h = altitude in feet

     so at: h = 0    then ... T = 50º

         h = 1000 ft   then  ...  T = 47º

         h = 24000 ft    then   ...   T = -22º
