video card?
my computer is supported by internal ATI Radeon Xpress
200, it also has a empty PCI-E and now i need another graphic card. I found a very good card but it's Geforce, it is compatible with PCI-E. Is it gonna work on my desktop? I mean Radeon and Geforce are different from each other right?
Thank you

Video Cards usually come in 3 format varieties. AGP, PCI, and PCI-E slots. So be aware of the slot type of the video card you purchase and you shouldn't have any problem with compatibility associated with your desktop.
Secondly, AMD ATI and Nvidia Geforce cards are not compatible, but all you need do is uninstall the drivers of the onboard graphics card, and then install your new card via the directions accompanying it.
Thirdly, one last thing to note is just a minor consideration. If you're getting a new graphics card b/c of a video game, take note of which company the game supports/suggests. Going with a card they suggest will also increase performance.

The only problem you might have is that you might have to disable the onboard video card in bios which can be accessed when you first start up the pc by holding F2 or Delete whichever the board supports, you'll find that out online if you look up your board. If you have a PCI-Express port on your motherboard then you should be good to add that type of card and yes radeon is ATI and Geforce is Nvidia. Sometimes they call the bios, Setup. They are usually simple but dont change anything you dont understand.
PCI-E is a slot on your motherboard that the Geforce will plug into. Ensure that it is a x16 PCI-E slot, which indicates the bandwidth required for a high end graphics card. There are x1 and x4 PCI-E slots that the Geforce video card will not fit into.
Once you have the card installed then you have to go into BIOS setup and disable the on-board video and enable your video add in slot. Wheter or not you have this option in BIOS setup is an indicator of if your moterboard supports an add on PCI-E video card. I would look at the BIOS setup before buying the add on card. Radeon and Geforce are competing products made by different vendors.
You can install the nvidia card and use it as your primary video card. Some of the things you may need to do are disable the onboard video system. This will free up some system memory, You will definitly need to reconfigure the games you have been playing to get them in line with your new nvidia card.
The process isnt complicated or anything, but one thing you wont be able to do is use both of the video systems in a Crossfire or SLI configuration.
nvidia IS the better of the two manufacturers in my opinion.
they are just different brands. They will both work on your computer.
