college algebra domain problem..?

given that f(x)=1/x and g(x)=9x+6, calculate f of g(x)=?

domain is all real numbers, accept?

g of f(x)= ?

domain all real numbers, accept?

f of f(x)=?

domain all real numbers, accept?

g of g(x)=?

domain is?

given that f(x)= 2/x-8 and g(x)=6/x+15 f+g=?

and the domain?

f-g=?

and the domain?

f(g)=?

and the domain?

f/g=?

and the domain?

Comments

  • f(x)=1/x and g(x)=9x+6

    i) f of g(x)= f ( g(x) ) = 1/(9x+6)

Domain: All real numbers, and x cannot equal 0 or -6/9.

    ii) g of f(x)= g( f(x) ) = 9/x+6

domain: All real numbers, x cannot equal 0 (-oo,0)U(0,+oo)

    iii) f of f(x)= f ( f(x) ) = 1/(1/x) = x

Domain: All real numbers, x cannot equal 0. Why cant' x equal 0? Because we must redefine the domain to do so. Type 1/(1/x) in a calculator, and you will get a Error at x=0.

    iv) g of g(x)= g( g(x) ) = 9(9x+6)+6 =....

    domain: All real numbers (-oo,+oo)
