Destroyed Passport...what can we do?!?

My husband and I are going to Texas for Thanksgiving and his pasport (his only for of ID...he is from England, going through the legalization process) was put through the washer and dryer. It is pretty destroyed and I was wondering if he could get a Government issued ID card w/o having a SS#.

Save the remains of the passport, and go to the British consulate where they can provide him with a new one. The important things are on page one. Always have a copy of your page one filed in a safe place for such an event.
No-you can request a new passport.I am not 100% sure what the procedure involves but with out some proper form of id it is going to be difficult to replace
